On our only full day off from work, Martin, Dave and I drove out of Brisbane to the Gold Coast and up into the mountains for a chance to see something other than just downtown Brisbane.
We drove to Surfers Paradise (yes that's the name of the town) on the Gold Coast, about an hour and a half drive from Brisbane. Here are several shots of the area.
We saw kite surfing in action ...
There were a lot of water activities going on - jetski's, fast boats, diving, surfing - plenty of action.
This hyper-active dog was playing with the waves, barking non-stop.
Our midday meal was probably the best meal of the whole trip - a very good steak, with skewered prawns - yum.
Dave and Martin strolling the around the shops.
There's a shooting gallery in the mall - if you need a little target practice after eating - ??
Oh ... and they make their maps upside down (?).
Here's an Australian twist on Santa 's Christmas sleigh - pulled by red-nosed kangaroos ...
Then there's the world famous Gold Coast Meter Maids (this is the first I ever heard of them) - I won't go into the history, though it seems that Martin Ly knows a little too much about them, if you ask me - click here for a link that tells their story in detail.
I'm dreaming of a Gold Christmas..........
